Black Dog Ride began in 2009 as a ride to raise awareness of depression, evolving into a national charity involving thousands of Australians who have raised millions for mental health programs and fostered mental health awareness around the nation, and last Saturday it made its way to Circular Head as part of the Tasmanian edition of its biannual National State Ride.
Almost 50 riders began their journey from Hobart in the south of the state, and Longford in the north, and made their way across rural and regional areas including Hamilton, Great Lakes, Bothwell, Queenstown, Strahan, Zeehan, Rosebery, Hellyer Gorge, Waratah, Burnie, Stanley, Smithton, Wynyard, Mole Creek Sheffield, Deloraine Sydmouth, Scottsdale, Pyengana, St Helens, Scamander, Bicheno, Lake Leake, and Campbell Town.
