Familiar faces at truly Tasmanian-wide law firm

Familiar faces at truly Tasmanian-wide law firm

After 40 years of serving the Circular Head community, Jonathan Smith Lawyers (JSL) is pleased to announce their medium independent legal firm is merging with the long-established Simmons Wolfhagen Lawyers to create a truly Tasmania-wide law firm, with offices in Launceston, Hobart, Kingston, and Smithton.

In reaching the decision to merge JSL practice with Simmons Wolfhagen, it was important that Simmons Wolfhagen is a wholly owned Tasmanian law firm, dedicated to supporting Tasmanians.  This merger also ensures that the practice retains the office at 32 King Street Smithton.

Following the merger, 2022 Circular Head Citizen of the Year, Jonathan Smith, will continue to serve clients as an employed solicitor of Simmons Wolfhagen together with the existing Smithton JSL staff who will all be continuing their employment under the new banner.

JSL also look forward to introducing clients to other members of the Simmons Wolfhagen team when appropriate.

The new firm will trade under the name Simmons Wolfhagen and will be capable of offering expanded services to Smithton and surrounding communities. They are excited that, in addition to Jonathan Smith Lawyers main practice areas of conveyancing, property, commercial transactions and wills and estate planning, JSL clients will now benefit from having access to a firm capable of delivering specialised advice in additional areas including:

  • Employment Law
  • Building and Construction Law
  • Family Law
  • Personal Injury and Motor Vehicle Accidents
  • Planning and Local Government
  • Estate Litigation; and
  • Litigation and Dispute Resolution

The effective date of the merger is expected to be December 1, 2023.
