Tallies, Hurseys shine at THA awards

The quality and diversity of Tasmania’s hospitality sector was on full display last week as the industry celebrated the annual Tasmanian Hospitality Association (THA) Awards for Excellence.

Around 550 hospitality representatives and dignitaries gathered the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, to see the winners announced across 38 categories compromising the state’s best cafes, restaurants, accommodation providers, pubs, sporting clubs and tourism operators.
With a record number of nominations for the 2023 awards, more than 200 venues from around the state submitted nearly 500 overall entries.

The Circular Head region was well represented with Tall Timbers bringing home Gold in the category of Best Mid-Range Style Accommodation for the fourth year running, Silver for Outstanding Contribution to our Local Community, and Bronze for Best Self-Contained Apartments of Suites.

Hursey Seafoods was also recognised at the prestigious THA Awards Night, claiming Bronze in the categories of Best New of Redeveloped Hospitality Venue, and Best Marketed Business.

Hursey Seafoods owners Mark and Anne Hursey were overcome with emotion with their family business’ achievements, with Mr Hursey saying, “It was absolutely overwhelming for us to get our two awards, we’re very proud.
