Rural Health was established in 2001 and is a health organisation that offers services across the North West, Central Coast and West Coast of Tasmania.
In 2006 the organisation were gifted a piece of land from the Circular Head Council and received state funding to build respite accommodation in Havelock Street.
They created a purpose built, four bedroom house for people with a disability for respite or short term accommodation. The house has extra wide hallways for those with mobility issues, two living areas, a fully equipped kitchen, spacious bedrooms and bathrooms all at ground level. Since its opening in 2007 the house has only averaged an 18 percent occupancy rate.
Rural Health are conducting a community consultation process with the possibility of selling the residence.
