Commemorative service for Vets, 50 years on

Last Thursday, August 3, the Circular Head RSL Centenary Committee held a Vietnam Veterans Vigil, recognising 60 years since the arrival of the Australian Army Training team in South Vietnam on August 3, 1962, and 50 years since the withdrawal of combat troops in 1972.

Commemorative Services were held across the nation for Australians to pay their respects. A graveside vigil was held at the Circular Head Lawn Cemetery, followed by further short acknowledgement at the Smithton Public Cemetery before community members gathered at ANZAC Park at 11am for the main service.
