People, Purpose, Progress

“It’s about people. Strength in numbers. It’s about me, not me. Purpose, we are actually someone who other people appreciate. And progress, transforming adversity into advantage through power of self-awareness, values and authenticity.” – Matt Caruana

Circular Head locals were presented with a real treat last Monday night when Suicide Survivor, Mental Fitness Facilitator and Humanitarian, Matt Caruana, came to town. At age 16, Matt made an attempt on his own life. He now travels around Australia sharing his story of hope. During his presentation, he spoke about how he was feeling up until the day of his suicide attempt, his recovery process, and his ambition to spread his message of hope, including sharing how you feel with the people who mean the most to you, discovering your purpose in life, and how to recognise progress. His negative mental health began at the beginning of high school at just 12 years of age. From there, it was a progression into a downward spiral.
