Stars don't align in 22/23 season

The Smithton Stars Cricket Club have temporarily called time on their Burnie Cricket League (BCL) venture, opting to go into recess for the 2022/2023 season. The club entered the BCL A-Grade competition in the 16/17 season, under the tutelage of coach Brent Burgess, with Glen McLaren at the helm as President in their inaugural year. After two seasons in the top tier, the Stars were relegated to A-Reserve, going through the 18/19 season undefeated and taking out the A-Reserve Premiership.  Season 19/20 saw them elevated back into A-Grade, and made finals the following season in 20/21 but fell agonisingly short in the prelim. 21/22 saw a younger constellation of Stars enter the mix, with the side narrowly missing finals.
