The Stanley Chamber of Commerce is set for a minor shake-up with the departure of former Chairperson, Bernard Atkins, who stepped down from the role at their recent AGM, held in June. Mr Atkins was the original Chairperson of the chamber when it was formed in 2005. Since then he has been at the helm for 15 out of 17 years that the chamber has been in existence. What began as a vision to revitalise the town of Stanley and support local business operators, Mr Atkins rallied the business community to attend a meeting to discuss a united way forward.
