Blizzards puts hand up

Circular Head Councillor Gerard Blizzard has confirmed that he will be contesting the Mayoral position at the council election in October.

Current Mayor Daryl Quilliam has officially announced he will not be standing for a fifth straight term, having held the role for 15 consecutive years. He has been a member of council for 29 years in total, according to the Circular Head Council’s website.

“I’ve had a chat to a few people about it and after the Mayor made his announcement . . . it’s moved things forward,” Cr Blizzard told the Chronicle.
