When established author John Fletcher visited Stanley with his wife, the couple immediately fell in love with the seaside village.
After a walk on the beach led the pair to the gate at Gulliver’s Rest, John and his wife were intrigued by the prospect and after seeing a for sale sign, the pair had to inquire.
“My wife said we should sell up and move to Stanley and I said you’re out of your mind! But that’s exactly what we did,” he laughed.
