Devil of a good time

Devil of a good time

Dust off your boots and shine up your belt buckles it’s almost time to head out to Trawmanna for the annual Devil Country Muster.

With gates opening to the camp grounds on Monday February 10, you can look forward to a week of Circular Head’s finest talent and with some big names set to appear on stage you won’t be disappointed.

“It’s a big job, we start planning the next year before this one’s even finished, we’ve already got artists lined up for next year,” organiser Eric Marshall said.

With the long range weather forecast looking fantastic and ticket sales already surpassing last year’s, Eric is excited for the event to kick off next week.

“I’ve been checking the weather everyday, it’s looking extra good, with only a very slight chance of rain on the Thursday.”

Live entertainment begins from 7pm Wednesday, with free entry to the Talent Quest followed by buskers hitting the streets of Smithton from 10am to 2pm on Thursday.

There will be a bus departing the camp ground hourly for those who would like to visit the town. Check out what’s on offer in the Muster Shopping Competition and view the many window displays around the CBD.

Rural Health’s CHILL OUT!!! will be held Thursday morning at Trawmanna, 11am with guest speakers from the Muster.

Thursday night will see the walk up muster, hosted by Chris and Viv Boys from 6pm ahead of the first show on Friday evening featuring special guest John O’Dea. There will be cameo appearances from Saturday’s artists and the talent quest finals.

This year campers and locals alike have the opportunity to join a tag-along tour to the west coast. Drivers can bring their own vehicle and play follow the leader with a local guide, leaving Smithton at 9am Friday en-route to Balfour at a cost of $15 per vehicle.

Saturday’s show is set to be a big one with gates opening at 10.30am, headline acts Troy Cassar-Daley and Felicity Urquhart are sure to draw the crowd in.

In 2017 Troy was honoured as the 50th inductee into the prestigious Australasian Roll of Renown. He has had numerous gold and platinum albums and achieved a staggering 32 Number 1 chart singles. His songs have been the soundtrack to the everyday triumphs, struggles and good times for Australians from our small towns to the big cities.

Felicity Urquhart won six Golden Guitars at Tamworth in January, including Female Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year. They will be joined by an array of well known artists as well as the Muster Band.

Finish off the week by attending the Gospel Show on Sunday hosted by Gina Timms from 11am to 1pm for a gold coin donation.

“The first few years were scary, you didn’t know how it would go but now it’s grown so much, you know people are going to come,” said Eric.
