Tennis is back!

Tennis is back!

Bust out the old sweatband and the dodgy racket, it’s time to hit the courts again.

With four pennants running Monday to Thursday and the opportunity to take part in tournaments on a few Saturdays, Smithton Tennis Club’s roster is packed to the brim this season.

Experienced players can take on Circular Head’s best of a Monday night as part of the mixed singles and doubles A Grade roster.

On Tuesday night the girls take centre stage in the B Grade Women’s pennant in teams of four, while Wednesday is boys night with a pennant in the same format.

If you’re keen to ease back into it, the social roster provides a comfortable environment for new players, youngsters taking up the sport and those looking for a bit of fun and exercise without the pressure.

The season is split to maximise participation. The first roster kicks off during the week starting October 7 and winds up in December, with the last final to be played on December 12.

After the silly season, it’s time for the second roster, taking place from the week beginning January 20 with the last final on March 26.

Though players are more than welcome to play just the one roster, there are bonuses for those who play two. Once registered, players are free to take on as many pennants as they like.

Smithton Tennis Club’s public officer Barclay Sayer, secretary Rebecca Sayer and club president Laura Korpershoek are excited for another action packed year of sporting shenanigans on the court.
