Fonterra. Fonterra Australia will invest in $9.7 million into its processing plant in Wynyard in a bid to increase capacity.
The Wynyard site produces milk powders, cheese, butter and spreads for domestic and international export with an annual capacity of between 45,000 and 50,000 tonnes.
The investment will increase dairy milk processing from 1.3 million to 1.5 million litres annually as well as increasing cheddar cheese production by close to 3900 metric tonnes.
More than $12 million will be invested in the Wynyard and Spreyton sites as part of a larger $165 million investment across Tasmania and Victoria.
