Church. Christian singer-songwriters Eric & Monique will be in Smithton next week, performing the gospel through word and song.
As well as touring their home country, the Australian couple has been touring throughout USA, Europe and New Zealand since 2010.
In speaking with the Chronicle about their upcoming visit to Smithton Christian Fellowship, Eric said those who come along to the performance can expect “a narrative” through music.
Describing the set as a “worshipful experience of original acoustic music portraying the love of Jesus”, he said their music is often seen as “reflective, meditative and spiritual”.
“We hope that people can connect to God through our music.”
With three albums already recorded, Eric & Monique are now working on their fourth. They are in Tasmania for just over a week and will visit seven churches during that time, performing in Devonport the night before Smithton with Burnie following.
Carrying the motto of “a church for everyone”, SCF runs weekly services of a Sunday and according to one of its leaders, Keith Saward, an estimated 50 to 70 regular attendees walk through the doors each week.
“People are always welcome. It’s a community church that people drop in to and feel free to attend without any strings attached,” Mr Saward said.
He welcomed old faces and newcomers to the free performance in two weeks’ time, saying it was an opportunity to hear an act that has been “accepted worldwide”.
