NWFL. The Greenham Tasmania Circular Head Giants earned a victory against East Devonport in round six of the North West Football League on Saturday.
Played at Girdlestone Park, the visiting side trailed by three goals at the main break before Jarrod Watling and Scott Jackson kicked into gear, securing five and three majors respectively.
The contest narrowed at the final change before Circular Head took control of proceedings.
Damon Smith and Aaron Tuxworth added two goals each to the tally as five majors separated the Giants from the home side for Circular Head to claim the win, 9.10.64 to 14.11.95.
In the Reserves, Circular Head narrowly claimed a 9.6.60 to 9.9.63 victory through the kicking of Zaryn Monson, Steve Poulter and Sam Poke with two majors each supported by best players James Force and Joel Poke.
While in the Under 18 action, the Giants prevented the home side from impacting the scoreboard until the second half. Despite this defensive pressure, Circular Head claimed only three majors in the opening terms and inaccurate kicking resulted in points.
A tight third quarter followed before the visitors blew the game out of the park, winning 4.4.28 to 11.13.79.
The Circular Head Giants are on the road again this week, meeting with Ulverstone in round seven of the North West Football League on Saturday (May 19).
