Win in finals warm-up

Colts. A 28-run win over the Devonport Orions at Devonport on Sunday gave the Circular Head Cowbiz Colts a boost of confidence in the regular season’s final match, as they look to repeat the result in facing the same opponent in this week’s semi-final.

The Colts batted first but lost both openers early to be 2/27 after 11 overs, before  Lewis Nicholls (21) and Pearce Watling (38) put on a 46-run stand to ease the pressure and see the side finish all out for 123.

The Orions started the chase well to be 2/45 after 15 overs, until Colts’ spinner Liam McLaren stepped up to claim the prized scalp of Cody Brown (13) and strike four more times to finish with the great figures 5/23 off 9 overs.

His partner in crime, Pearce Watling, finished with 2/19 off 9 overs with Ryan Grey (2/3) cleaning up the tail to see Devonport all out for 95.

The semi-final this Sunday between Circular Head and Devonport will be played at the Smithton Recreation Ground at 10am.
