Western Explorer works

Update. One lane of the Western Explorer Road is expected to be open to traffic by late March, as reconstruction works to repair a section of the road that slipped away in heavy rainfall near completion.

The works, undertaken by the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources, include lowering the road to reduce the risk of a future landslip and rebuilding the road gradually in layers.

DIER thanked the local community and tourists for their patience and understanding. Public safety is paramount and all drivers must obey all regulatory road signage around the state, including road closures.

DIER expects the road will be open in the week commencing Monday March 24.

The repairs are expected to be fully completed by the Easter holiday break.
