NWBU. A Tall Timbers Smithton Saints stalwart, Alisha Barry earned a North West Basketball Union record on Tuesday.

As the Saints clashed with the Devonport Warriors, Barry notched 479 league games, overtaking previous record holder and former player Katrina Furphy.

The women played a strong match however were ultimately defeated 90 to 42 while the men fell short of the Warriors’ 95 points with 72.

The record breaking round follows a home game played last Tuesday where the women were narrowly defeated by Burnie Tigers, 51 to 57. The men also recorded a defeat in the round 11 showdown, 66 to 73.

In round 10, the Wynyard Wildcats clawed away the Smithton Saints to gain a 74 to 58 victory in the women’s and a 118 to 82 win in the men’s action.

The Smithton Saints will host Somerset in the next round of the North West Basketball Union season on Tuesday (May 1).
