Charity. St Vincent de Paul Society in Smithton has re-opened its doors following the April 10 fire that damaged the building and stock, with a fresh new look and a bigger range to choose from.
“The support shown by the community following the fire has been tremendous and has made this whole ordeal a little easier,” said Vin Hindmarsh, Burnie regional president for the St Vincent de Paul Society.
At the time of the fire, damage to the Nelson Street premises was estimated at $50,000.
“We have had a recruitment drive for more volunteers and have welcomed five new people on board with more expected to join the team in the near future,” Mr Hindmarsh said.
“This is wonderful for the whole community.
“With new season’s stock being put out every day, it is the perfect opportunity to grab a bargain or two and chat to our wonderful volunteers.”
Vinnies is now operating six days a week: Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm, and on Saturdays from 10am until 2pm.
