Trowutta falls just short

CHCA U/16s. Forest Stanley will face off against Marrawah in the grand final after bowling Trowutta Combine out with 22 runs to spare in a close finish on the weekend.

Forest Stanley won the toss and decided to bat first, with Tom Mundy (28) and Isaac Perry (18) putting on a steady 62-run opening partnership to have their side at 2/70 after 20 overs.

Lachie Oates (29), Vincent Curtain (43) and Duncan Grey (23) helped their side to a total of 7/198, with Jaiden Crole (2/25) and Lochie Hunt (2/2) the leading wicket-takers for Trowutta Combine.

The chasing side began scoring at a slightly better rate than their opposition but were losing wickets regularly, positioned at 5/85 after the 20-over mark.

Sam Muller (31) and Hunt (18) batted well in the middle, and despite a last-wicket stand of 50 runs from Vinnie O’Halloran (19) and Jake Roberts (8), Trowutta Combine lost their last wicket in the 37th over to fall narrowly short with 176.

Mundy led from the front for Forest Stanley with bowling figures of 4/13, supported well by Oates (2/23) and Jasper Cole (2/5).
