NWFL. In a close encounter, the Greenham Tasmania Circular Head Giants’ disappointing fourth quarter performance on Saturday resulted in a 17 point defeat.
Remaining in tight contention with third placed Penguin throughout the first three terms of the North West Football League’s round 16 game, Circular Head held a slight lead in the first half.
Jarrod Watling, Damien Medwin and Scott Jackson each put two goals on the board throughout the affair while Scott Bryan, Bon Radford and Josh Gale supported the side competently with solid run and carry.
With eight goals apiece at the final break, Circular Head conceded four goals in the last term but responded with only two of their own to lose the points, 10.6.66 to 12.11.83.
The Reserves were unable to match their opponents in the 42 point defeat as a dismal three-point first quarter effort was matched by five majors and five behinds from the Penguin side.
Mitchell Dunlop and Jaxon Poke each put one goal on the board during the third however their opponents mustered three majors to seal the 2.7.19 to 8.13.61 game.
The Under 18s were completely overrun as their opponents recorded a 2.2.14 to 17.14.116 victory while Brae Gardner and Austen Perry were the only Giants to earn a major in the 102 point defeat.
The Circular Head Giants will travel to meet with Latrobe this Saturday (August 12) in round 17 of the North West Football League.
