Crime. Vandals have set fire to the toilets in Smith Street at the weekend, causing $800 worth of damage.
It is believed two fires were lit over two consecutive nights, causing damage to the toilet’s bench top and one of the toilet seats.
A new soap dispenser was also removed from the wall and thrown out on the street.
Circular Head Mayor Daryl Quilliam said the vandalism was frustrating.
“This is a very disappointing and senseless act that unfortunately continues to happen,” Cr Quilliam said.
“I’m sure the majority of community would be rather annoyed by such acts.”
Anyone with information is urged to call Smithton Police on 131 444.
