Representative. Ashley Oates has been crowned the Circular Head Football Association Ambassador for 2018.

The Scotchtown Football Club representative joined Redpa’s Shona Wilson, Forest Stanley’s Laura Davis and Irishtown’s Johnny Swan in vying for the title at the annual dinner and awards gala at Irishtown Community Centre on Saturday.

Ashley, who has ties to the club through her partner Under 17 coach Mitchell Scolyer, says she wanted to take on a bigger role within the club.

“I wanted to involve myself a bit more,” she says.

“Get out of my comfort zone and extend my social circle.”

Supporting from the sidelines each Saturday, Ashley spent her spare time organising fundraising events such as trivia nights, a motor show, a fire cracker night and day for Life Members and sponsors.

And if she wasn’t barracking for the Tigers, Ashley was selling raffle tickets, standing by on the gate or lending a hand in the canteen.

Thankful for the experience, Ashley says she has gained as much as she has put in to the club.

“I love the club because it’s one big family,” she says.

“Everyone’s always happy to help and I’ve now made lifelong friends.”
