Tarkine Drive update

Infrastructure. With the onset of winter, the focus on the Tarkine Drive has shifted from sealing to less weather-dependent works.

Works include bridgeworks, safety barrier, signage and line marking.

The Western Loop past Arthur River and Couta Rocks is now sealed, with large sections of the Eastern Loop also sealed – including Tayatea Road and Sumac Rd.

Work is continuing on the new Rapid River Bridge with completion anticipated in late July or early August. Once the new bridge is in place it will be possible to re-open the full Eastern Loop (as the Rapid River Rd section has been closed since the old bridge was severely damaged in flooding).

The final section of the Eastern Loop on Rapid River Rd will be sealed once warmer and drier weather allows, providing fully sealed Eastern and Western Loops.
