CHCA. The battle for the Tall Timbers Twenty20 Cup continues in the Circular Head Cricket Association.

In round two, Forest Stanley hosted Marrawah as the home side launched into the batting.

A series of single digit attempts in the top order threatened the side before Kyle Ollington (26) and Kayden Stein (37) stepped in, allowing the team to hit 6/127 from the 20 overs.

In the bowling, Scott Fisher (2/17) and Aiden Coombe (2/19) secured their figures from four overs.

The Marrawah batsmen were on top of their game from the start of the second innings with Shane Babcock (22) and Matthew Saward (56) setting the pace. Coombe (4 not out) and Mitchell Heald (29 not out) reached the target of 2/129 in 18 overs.

Forest Stanley’s Kade Hardy (1/8) and Shaun Crowden (1/11) took the two Marrawah wickets along with Shane Dennison’s catch in the field.

In the Trowutta Combine and Van Dairy Devils match, the new team on the block reached the target with one over to spare to win by two wickets, 8/144.

In the first innings, Trowutta Combine’s Thomas Coombs (40) and Tomas Coker (25) were the top scorers in the team’s effort of 9/143.

In Circular Head Cricket Association round seven proceedings, Forest Stanley turned the tables to defeat Marrawah in the 40 over match.

Marrawah struggled to play the long game with Marcus Popowski (23), Matthew Saward (11) and Jotham Saward (11) the only batsmen to reach double digits on the side’s way to 9/92.

Matthew Emmett took three wickets for Forest Stanley throughout the encounter, conceding 20 runs in eight overs.

Forest Stanley displayed consistent batting in the second innings led by openers Dennison (17) and Emmett (15). Nigel McIntosh (10), Ollington (18), Brandon Tonks (17 not out) and Eli Bellinger (8 not out) saw the side to 4/97 in 14.2 overs.

Trowutta Combine’s Scott Blizzard (47) fell just shy of a half century during the team’s meeting with Irishtown. Three ducks and five single-digit scores prevented the side from setting a tall target, reaching 102 runs in 32.2 overs.

In round eight of the Circular Head Cricket Association, Forest Stanley hosts Trowutta Combine while Marrawah and Irishtown play at Redpa.

The third round of the Twenty20 Cup will be held tonight (Thursday January 24). Irishtown will host Forest Stanley while in Smithton, Trowutta Combine meets Marrawah and Van Dairy Devils and All Stars face off.
