Style is subjective

It was very disappointing to read two letters published in last week’s Chronicle (April 20) regarding Stanley’s historical values.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion when it comes to the styles of buildings and renovations proposed, but there are avenues to follow if people are discontented.

When it comes to putting your viewpoint into the public domain that is another matter. Structures are one thing but people live in homes and people have feelings.

This is not the warm welcome to the town that Stanley has always been known for nor the response that a lifetime resident is entitled to.

I can assure those involved in building and renovating, not all the people in Stanley have the viewpoints expressed by anonymous subscribers. Personally, I love the heritage of the town but Stanley can survive with a mix of the old and the new.
