Smith carries Colts

CNW. The Circular Head Cowbiz Colts Under 17s lacked momentum during round 10 of Cricket North West proceedings on Sunday.

The Colts relied solely on Connor Smith (46 not out) to pave the way against the Devonport Orions, with the remaining Circular Head line up failing to reach double digits. After 28 overs, Smith ran out of partners and Circular Head finished with 83 runs.

In the field, the Colts looked to improve after claiming opening batsmen Ben Tenaglia (5) and Nicholas Matthewson (14) early before Cooper Denmen (25 not out) and Joshua Aikman (26 not out) met their side’s target of 85 in 30.3 overs and losing just two wickets. Colt Lochie Hunt was responsible for the Orions’ two wickets.

Meanwhile, Circular Head TOP Fish Colts Under 13s met with Ulverstone Black. Bowling first, Circular Head’s Kade Hardy (2/15) and Eli Bellinger (1/15) were among the top performing bowlers to see Ulverstone reach 5/169 from their 30 overs.

In the second innings Jotham Saward (21 not out) and Bellinger (14) put together a productive partnership allowing Circular Head to reach 5/118.

The U/13s will play their final match of the season this Sunday in Smithton from 10am against Devonport Teal while the U/17s meet with Burnie Hurricanes at West Park Oval in the last rostered round before finals.
