Side replies strongly

Colts. After last week’s loss to ladder-leaders Burnie, the Circular Head Cowbiz Colts hit back against Sheffield Mountaineers to claim a comfortable six-wicket win.

Sheffield won the toss and batted strongly to finish at 8/187, with Connor Hinrichsen (50) and Quentin Hamilton (38) putting on a second-wicket partnership of 84 runs.

While Lochie Oates (1/16) and Lewis Nicholls (1/12) were economical in their overs, Connor Smith (3/21) swung the ball both ways to lead the wicket-takers.

The Colts got off to a perfect start in the chase, with openers Liam McLaren (50) and Carlton Heres (41) standing firm with a 107-run partnership.

They then fell to 4/120 largely due to the bowling of Dayne Suna (4/18), before Thomas Lewis (52no) steadied his side to win the match with seven overs to spare.

The final roster match next week sees the Colts take on Devonport at Devonport.
