Racing. Circular Head Kart Club members Logan Dixon and Tim Hinds were recently recognised among the best racers in the state.
Following a successful season, Hinds earned overall first in the Driver of the Year (Over 40) competition from points accumulated over eight race meetings as well as overall second in the Statewide Series (Over 40) run across four meetings.
Dixon, 14, who is now in his fifth racing season, received the inaugural Junior Encouragement Award for commitment and improvement throughout the season.
Hinds, who has been racing for more than a decade in the KA4 Masters, says he was pleased with his performances despite recording two ‘did not finish’ results in the Driver of the Year titles.
He plans to take a break from the sport this season to focus on supporting son Daniel Hinds and nephew Dixon in their racing.
Dixon, currently in the KA4 Junior Lightweight class, has gained valuable experience racing across Tasmania and Victoria this season without missing a single meeting in Tasmania.
Chosen to take part in the AWC Motorsport Academy, Dixon was one of eight drivers from across the state to receive assistance from the organisation in a bid to foster young drivers.
He received sponsorship and attended coaching clinics in Victoria, improving noticeably since the start of the season.
Dixon also spent a week in Victoria taking part in the Australasian Grade Titles at Tramway Park Raceway in Morwell and the City of Melbourne Titles, in the latter finishing in the midfield among 30 competitors.
Starting in Cadet 12 class in 2014, Dixon’s racing has improved out of sight to see him finish third in the Driver of the Year (Junior Light) titles and fourth in the Statewide Series (Junior Light).
Circular Head Kart Club will host round one of the 2018 Statewide Series at Briant Park in April.
