Hockey U/16s. Following a triumphant Hockey North West season, the Smithton Saints were faced with a double header in the final rostered round on the weekend.
The Saints produced a solid game of tactical hockey on home turf with a 3-0 win against Devonport on Friday before a 3-0 victory against South Burnie at McKenna Park on Monday.
Elyse Poke displayed an absolute stellar performance with her almost unbeatable defensive work throughout both matches as did Kiah House and Henry Wright who demonstrated impressive personal and team performances.
Fresh from his recent success at the Australian Championships with Tasmania’s Under 16s, Sam Porteus-Smith produced two of the Saints’ three goals with great finesse on Friday before tallying his third goal of the round on Monday evening.
Abbey House concluded the Saints’ Friday night scoring with an excellent deflection from Porteus-Smith.
Brother Kiah secured the Saints’ second goal on Monday with Darcey Smith concluding scoring with the team’s third.
The Saints will next meet Burnie Baptist in the Hockey North West Semi Final tomorrow (Friday August 26) at McKenna Park from 7.15pm.
