Hockey U/16s. The young Smithton Saints met a highly skilled Burnie Baptist outfit during Friday evening’s round 13 home game.
Struggling to find momentum early, the Saints conceded two goals to Baptist in the opening 10 minutes.
Despite this setback, Saints goalkeeper Tomas Coker made some spectacular saves throughout the course of the evening.
Baptist had four goals on the scoreboard at half time, the Saints replying with one of their own.

Burnie have a number of quality state players in their line-up and this prevented the Saints from capitalising on given opportunities several times, however excellent goals by Poke, Nicholls and Sam Porteus-Smith saw the final margin at 3-6 in Burnie’s favour.
The young Saints are a developing squad who will continue to grow for the remainder of the season and will be a force to reckon with next year.
Young gun Henry Wright was sorely missed due to injury on Friday, he’s expected to make his return when the Saints travel to Devonport this week to meet West Devonport at 7.30pm.
