Qualifier. Riders from Circular Head, King Island and north west pony clubs showcase their talents during a special One Day Event held at Tall Timbers Tasmania on Sunday.

The event was a qualifier for the Pony Club Association of Tasmania State Trials which will be held in Wynyard later this year and saw more than 40 horses and riders demonstrate show jumping, cross country and dressage.

Circular Head’s Kelsey Bramich cleared grade two once at the ODE and will look to clear it once more to be eligible for trials.

Circular Head Pony Club has hosted King Island riders in the past week, welcoming them to the club with a three-day camp before the ODE. King Island Pony Club member Josie Post writes of her time in Circular Head.

On Monday January 4, Ingrid, Olivia, Gracie, Sarah, Kelly and I (Josie) travelled to Smithton to join Circular Head Pony Club for their three-day camp.

We were lucky enough to have a choice of wonderful horses lent to us by some very generous Circular Head members. During the camp we got to know our horses and other members of the club.

After the camp we were all very grateful to be welcomed into various families’ homes for the rest of the week, where we all worked hard to prepare for the ODE on Sunday.

Everyone had a fantastic day at the ODE and performed spectacularly. We dominated the grade four section with Olivia placing first, Ingrid placing third, Gracie placing fourth and me placing ninth.

The highlight of the trip for everyone was the ODE and especially the fantastic cross-country course, but other highlights included eating too much Wizz Fizz, combining Pringles and Nutella, swimming at the beach and in pools, and getting the opportunity to ride a variety of amazing horses.

We are all very grateful for the generosity and kindness shown by all members of Circular Head Pony Club and are all excited to return soon, or possibly have some of their members come over to visit us.

Circular Head Pony Club wishes to thank all sponsors and volunteers for their continued support and assistance in holding such events.
