CHKC. Daniel Hinds broke a lap record during the qualifying lap in the first round of the WT House Betta Home Living Statewide Series at the weekend.

Racing in TAG Restricted Medium, the Circular Head Kart Club member claimed the lap record with a time of 36.629 seconds in the qualifying rounds before winning the first two heats.

In heat three, Hinds was hit in a racing incident resulting in a bent axle which threatened his race chances.

Desperate to get the kart back on the track, the parts were replaced though without the opportunity to put the new axle to the test. Experience on his side, Hinds worked his way throughout the finals to secure second in his class.

Competing in KA4 Junior, Logan Dixon raced consistently throughout the two-day event to qualify in fifth before progressing to fourth throughout the heats.

With patience and precision driving, Dixon finished the final event in third.

Ben and Louis Popowski, a father-son duo, competed against each other in the KA3 Senior Medium class. As mechanical issued plagued Louis’ racing, he recorded a DNF in the final while Ben finished in fifth place.

In the Cadet 9 racing, George McMillan claimed the title while Denzil Sargent earned the Cadet 12 title. Ethan Wyllie finished the KA4 Junior finals in first while the TAG Light title was awarded to Lachlan Dalton, the TAG Restricted Light to Brodie Sward, the TAG Restricted Medium to Shane Stonehouse and the TAG Restricted Heavy to Caitlin Fitch while the Over 40 title went to Johnathan Males.

The next Circular Head Kart Club event will be held on Saturday June 16 when the club hosts the Grant McGlasson Memorial for TAG Restricted.
