Readers’ delight

Duck-dive into a new adventure, as Courtney McIntyre has, with The Arty Duck’s book exchange. Picture: Ashleigh Force.

Intrigue. Wandering travellers and avid local readers can enter the treasure trove of literature at The Arty Duck.

The Smithton gallery hopes to entice readers to swap their favourite reads in the community book exchange.

Volunteers Courtney McIntyre and Kristy Champion say similar movements were a great amenity during their travels and hope the local nook will see others escaping on their own adventure on the pages.

“We hoped to offer the community and visitors a new service that isn’t currently available here,” Courtney says.

“The exchange is very simple. You can either exchange a book from your collection and take one from the shelves, or pay a donation if you don’t have anything to exchange.

“We have been thrilled with the books donated so far, there is a great variety and fabulous titles.”

Books are stamped with The Arty Duck logo and address in the hopes the reads will be carried all over the country, to be exchanged over again.

Pop into The Arty Duck, 30 Smith Street, Smithton between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 1pm on Saturday for your next story.
