CHFA. A strong Redpa outfit outclassed Forest Stanley during round four of the Circular Head Football Association on Saturday while Irishtown retained their ladder leader status by defeating Scotchtown.
The support of a home crowd and the strength of the Pilkington brothers, Andrew and David, prompted Redpa to storm the game, leading by one point at the first change.
A strong defensive game played by Redpa resulted in multiple missed opportunities for Forest Stanley as simple conversions were intercepted for a point.
Redlegs’ Rodney Franks, Marshall Evans and Cam Wilson each claimed two majors throughout the contest while Demon Brandon Tonks led with three of his own.
Following a short break, the home side notched another major before the main break while the visitors added three behinds.
Forest Stanley made a comeback in the third to lead by two goals at the final quarter before Redpa fought back for a nail biting five point victory, 9.7.61 to 7.14.56.
In the second senior match, Irishtown and Scotchtown booted goal for goal in the first half before the Canaries took control in the third. This momentum carried into the final quarter where Kurt Everett continued his fine form to claim seven majors throughout the contest, assisted by Jason Gofton who moved with finesse throughout the midfield.
Topping off a solid game, the Canaries claimed a 35 point victory over the Tigers, 11.13.79 to 6.8.44.
In the Reserves, Forest Stanley secured the game against Redpa, 4.7.31 to 8.11.59 while Irishtown held Scotchtown scoreless throughout the first half before taking the win, 9.10.64 to 3.1.19.
The Under 17 action witnessed an overpowering game from Redpa where Evans notched six majors alongside Isaac Innes-Smith and Kalon Nicholls with three each to secure a 28.26.194 to 1.1.7 win against Forest Stanley.
In the other game, Irishtown’s Brae Gardner notched five major moments to assist in the side’s 10.8.68 victory against Scotchtown’s 4.6.30.
In the Under 14 games, Redpa claimed a strong victory over Forest Stanley 6.5.41 to 1.0.6 while the Irishtown side played a strong campaign in the second game as Nash Walker secured six goals for the 9.9.63 to 2.1.13 win over Scotchtown.
Circular Head Football Association will take a break this weekend before competition resumes in round five on Saturday May 12 and Scotchtown hosts Redpa while Forest Stanley travels to Irishtown.
