Circular Head Council will commence consultation and planning for a roundabout at the Goldie Street and Sampson Avenue junction in Smithton.
Concerns about congestion in the area, from school traffic and vehicles turning from Goldie Street onto Sampson Avenue, led the council to last year commission a report by GHD.
The report recommended a roundabout as the most effective solution. The report also suggested other options such as a right turning lane or left slip lane.
A planning and consultation phase will commence in the coming months, before cost estimates in the range of $394,000 to $600,000 will be confirmed.
