Pies tumble in Giants’ presence

NWFL. The Greenham Tasmania Circular Head Giants claimed two thrilling victories against the Devonport Pies on Saturday as Nathan Drake marked 200 club games in the North West Football League.

Meanwhile, the underage squad forfeited the points.

Following a tight first half, Circular Head led by just two points at the main break of the Seniors affair.

As the Giants marched back onto the ground a surge of power and determination ran through the squad who conceded just two goals while booting 11 in the third term.

Scott Jackson led the squad with five majors, assisted by Matt Elliott (four) and Kalon House (three) alongside best players Jaiden Crole and Scott Bryan.

The Pies fumbled in the fourth quarter to post five behinds while the Giants notched another three to steal the 8.11.59 to 20.15.135 victory.

In the Reserves, Circular Head dominated throughout the four quarters, conceding just two goals in total while Sam Poke claimed a massive 11 majors.

Leading by 23 points at the first break, Circular Head extended this margin to 70 points at half time before hitting 100 points during the third.

Bon Radford, Jaycob Wells and Steve Poulter earned a mention in the top players as Jordan Williams tallied four goals throughout the match to win 2.5.17 to 26.20.176.

The Circular Head Giants will next host Penguin this Saturday (August 5).
