Pedestrian accident

Road safety. A 79-year-old man was struck by a vehicle when crossing Goldie Street this morning (Wednesday August 28).

The man was taken to Smithton Hospital. He was not seriously injured.

Smithton Police Sergeant Lee-Anne Walters said, “It appears the pedestrian failed to look before walking out into oncoming traffic”.

“The driver of the vehicle in this incident was traveling at a slow speed which lessened injuries received.”

She said police would like to remind motorists to take care around pedestrians.
