Open to young, old

Bowls. Smithton Bowls Club is encouraging new players to come along and learn a thing or two from a master of the sport this weekend.

The green will be open to the public from 10.30am on Sunday November 15, with long-time player and club Life Member Arnold ‘Screwy’ Lane on hand to teach prospective players the basics of the easy-going social sport.

Member Wayne Diprose hoped the Mr Lane’s ‘expertise” would entice new players to pick up the sport.

“[The club] would like to focus on younger people picking up the sport,” he said while noting 15-year-old newcomer Jacob Carter had potential to become a “champion”.

Flat, non-grip shoes are required. For more information phone Wayne Diprose on 0408 356 631.
