Nut Cup time

Golf. New captain of the Stanley Golf Club Warren Ward says he is looking forward to his new role even though he doesn’t take up his new duties until April.

“The most important event just a couple of weeks away is the 76th Open Golf Tournament, the Clark Windows Nut Cup next month,” Mr Ward said.

“This is our premier golfing tournament and we are expecting about 80 to 90 players with a lot of talent playing for some fantastic prizes from all of our fantastic sponsors.

“Anyone wishing to play needs to get their entry in by Sunday October 28, and they must also have a registered handicap to be eligible to play.”

Mr Ward said any players wanting to play need to register quickly as the field is limited to 92 players.

The first round of competition will be played on November 2, which will be the Stanley Cabin and Tourist Park Four Ball Best Ball Stableford – this will be an 18-hole event with an outright trophy and runners up trophy.

The other events will include the Nut Cup which is a limited handicap.

The WT House Betta Home Living CH Open Scratch, the ABC Handicaps, 55 years and over, the Junior Scratch and the Junior Handicap.

“It promises to be a great competition with some of the region’s top golfers turning up to play,” Mr Ward said.
