Nursery visitor

Circular Head Garden Club will welcome Red Dragon Nursery’s Andrew Lockett next month, whilst keeping busy with preparations for the 2017 ‘Garden Spectacular’.

Event. The Circular Head Garden Club will soon welcome Andrew Lockett of Red Dragon Nursery, presenting a wonderful opportunity for all garden lovers in the community.

The respected nursery owner is based at Karoola in the state’s north, and will venture west to be a guest speaker on light and shade and striking the best balance in the garden.

“It’s topical and a new topic that people haven’t heard (from me) before,” Mr Lockett said, inviting keen gardeners along.

“Anyone interested in gardening . . . for summer protection from heat scorch and also for winter, getting some light into the garden.”

After 15 years in business, Mr Lockett is set to close the Red Dragon Nursery at the end of June and travel overseas for work and volunteer experience in the areas of nursery management, curation and gardening.

He said he is not ending his involvement in the nursery field, merely the retail aspect.

Mr Lockett has spoken for the local garden club twice previously and at other garden clubs across the state.

The event is open to all and will be held at the Irishtown Community Centre on Monday May 16 from 11.30am-2.30pm.

Soup will be provided, BYO plate to share.

The local garden club has been busy with various events this year and looks forward to the highly popular ‘Garden Spectacular’ at Highfield Historic Site, Stanley in 2017 with the date set for Saturday October 21.
