Event. Following the success of last year’s masquerade fundraiser for baby Xander Redman, the VDL Company, together with the Rotary Club of Smithton, is throwing another.
This time raising funds for Beyond Blue.
Rotary member Gerard Blizzard said the charity has done well in bringing the discussion of depression “to the forefront”.
“Our community is certainly not immune,” he said.
Last year’s dinner and dance drew a crowd of close to 300, and Mr Blizzard said he hoped the community “would come onboard again” and make the event a success.
This year’s event has a ‘Night at the Races’ theme, with a formal dress code.
If successful, it is hoped the Woolnorth fundraiser will become an annual event.
The cost of the night is $100, with dinner, beverages and transport provided.
Tickets can be purchased from Lizzy’s This ’N’ That in Smithton, and Sticks and Stones in Stanley.
