Councillor Berechree (Council Briefs, Thursday March 23 Chronicle) noted recent parking of motorhomes on Stanley’s Main Road below the hotel.
Why now, since the Department of State Growth has this past fortnight completed their road marking tasks in the district? A question too late!
This is the very item I submitted to council at budget time for several years that fell on deaf ears.
A question more applicable would have been, “When will Circular Head Council join the Department of State Growth in funding the complete upgrade of this section of Stanley, Main Road?”
A white line will not appease nor assist Stanley’s residents or tourists in any way, shape or form.
A full upgrade from the Stanley town boundary through to the Stanley Wharf is long overdue and this would be necessary prior to any future line marking that would be of benefit to all concerned.
In fact not having this reconstruction completed in the very near future is a blight on the council and councillors.
