History at risk

Alarm bells should be ringing in the north west with another proposed attack on the historic identity of Stanley – its main attraction along with the Nut.

The town is unique in having had the past foresight to preserve and respect its historical buildings. But this is not evident in recent development approvals nor in a current building application in Harrison Terrace which, if approved, will conceal the bulk of the northern side of the historic Star of the Sea church and damage its sacred connection with the adjoining Stanley Burial Ground. This cannot be allowed to happen.

Name withheld, Stanley
