Under 17. In Cricket North West action, the Circular Head Colts look to meet with the Devonport Orions in the Grand Final this weekend.
The side met with the Orions in round nine on Sunday February 18 to narrowly miss out on a victory.
Playing in Devonport, the home side took the bat in the first innings to register 151 runs from 32.4 overs.
Colt Jake Roberts prevented the opposition from reaching a higher score, taking the ball late in the innings to steal three wickets from four balls, conceding one single run. He was supported by Kalien Oates (3/22), Judd Stewart (2/25), Ben Spinks (1/27) and Jake Grey (1/29).
In the second innings, a succession of single digit performances from the opening batsmen prevented the visiting side from finding momentum.
Oates (11) and Grey (11) stepped up to the crease to get the side underway, followed by Jake Roberts (16) and Austen Perry (34) later in the innings however these attempts could not carry the side to its target, resting on 117 runs from 30.3 overs.
In the round 10 match last Sunday, the Circular Head Colts met with the Wynyard Blues on opposition ground.
Batting first, Circular Head recorded 168 within 37.3 overs with high scoring honours going to Perry (43) followed by Logan Smith (42), Jake Russell (21) and Sam Muller (10).
Opposing batsman Brodie Peach (85) assisted the side to its victory of 9/169 while Kaleb O’Halloran (2/19), Smith (2/31), Stewart (2/33), Kalon Nicholls (1/14) and Oates (1/30) bowled admirably.
The Colts met with the Demons in the Cricket North West Semi Final in Latrobe on Sunday.
As the home side notched 6/128 in the first innings, the visitors reached the target with one ball remaining to claim a victory on a total of 9/129 with Oates (19), Smith (21) and Spinks (39) topping the scores.
O’Halloran (2/24), Nicholls (1/7), Roberts (1/17) and Spinks (1/25) were responsible for the opposing wickets.
The Cricket North West Under 17 Grand Final will be held this Sunday (March 11) at 10am in Devonport.
