Flying start for U16s

CHCA. Circular Head Cricket Association’s U16s kicked off with a Twenty20 Gala Day at Smithton Recreation Ground on Saturday.

In the first game of the day, Irishtown had a big win over Forest-Stanley, scoring 8/169 with all batsmen contributing.

Digger Oates 3/13, Caleb Riley 2/9 and Kaleb O’Halloran 2/25 were the wicket takers for Forest-Stanley.

FS managed just 74 runs in reply with O’Halloran (18), Judd Stewart (16) and Caicie Keogh (10) doing well with the bat.

FS performed much better in their second game just going down to Trowutta-Combine Blues. O’Halloran (29) and Stewart (38 not out) pushed the score to a competitive 99 runs.

The Watling girls, Hanna 2/16 and Bridget 2/7, were the main wicket takers for TC Blues.

TC lost five quick wickets and looked in trouble but Jake Grey (26) and Lochie Blakemore (25no) saw TC Blues over the line.

In the last game of the day, TC were too strong for Marrawah as Marrawah rue dropping seven catches, and TC scored an impressive 3/146.

Sam Muller (31 retired, not out), Lochie Hunt (31rtno) and Joel Keep (30no) all batted well. Logan Smith 1/17 was the only wicket taker for Marrawah.

Marrawah finished 5/104, Smith (21no), Ryan Nibbs (21), Ben Spinks (13) and Jay Saward (13no) all batted well.

Best bowling for TC were Hunt 2/7 and once again, Bridget 1/17 and Hanna Watling 1/8.

This week, all U16 teams play at Stanley starting at 10am.
