CHCA. Irishtown have secured their place in the upcoming Circular Head Cricket Association Grand Final following their victory over TC Blues One on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Forest Stanley have been knocked out of the competition during an Elimination Final clash with Marrawah One.
Forest Stanley began the first innings well with coach Martyn Carr (12) and Kayden Stein (25) leading the way before a period of low scoring in the middle order. Matthew Emmett (16) broke through bowlers Steve Fisher (3/20), Logan Smith (2/10), Rowan Popowski (2/17) and Caleb Cole (1/2) to see his side reach 90 runs in 27.2 overs.
Marrawah required only 18.1 overs to reach their target of 3/93 with coach Rocky Poke (15) and Paul East (15) beginning the proceedings. Forest Stanley’s Jade Best (2/33) and Carr (1/35) tried to reduce the run-rate before Matthew Saward (17 not out), Woody French (12) and John Innes-Smith (16 not out) prevailed to ensure Marrawah’s place in the Preliminary Final this weekend.
In Semi Final action, TC Blues One stepped in front of the wickets for the first innings to notch a total of 6/179. Leigh Grey (59) began with a classy display followed by Nick Littlejohn (62) at third order with bowlers Johnathon Swan (2/27) and Sean Hammond (2/38) doing as much damage as possible.
Irishtown’s Les Lambert (64) began the second innings strongly before a prolonged period of low scoring in the middle order. Hammond (26), Brad Kay (34 not out) and Josh Else (12) brought the side home to 7/183 despite the work of Chris Reeves (3/45).
Marrawah One and TC Blues One will battle for the Grand Final spot this Saturday at Irishtown from 10am.
