District success

Rotary. Past District Governor and Rotary Club of Smithton member Gerard Blizzard was presented the prestigious Presidential Citation on behalf of Rotary District 9830 (Tasmania) last Sunday.

Presented at the Tasmanian annual general meeting held in Longford, the award recognises the district’s contributions to Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation during the 2016-17 period.

To qualify for a Presidential Citation, district clubs must complete at least two mandatory activities each as well as additional activities and goals in varying categories. These include increasing membership numbers and charitable contributions.

Clubs have one financial year to complete the tasks.

“This acknowledges the success of the district and therefore the clubs within our district,” says Mr Blizzard.

“It really is an acknowledgment of our Rotarians. It is pleasing and reinforces the support given, and recognises the hard work of our Rotarians statewide.”
