Health. Diabetes Tasmania is now providing services at Smithton.
A diabetes nurse educator will be available one day each week at Smithton District Hospital to see people with diabetes or those who have impaired glucose tolerance, also known as pre-diabetes.
This service is open to people who want to understand the changes to the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) and how this affects them, or to find out more about new medications that have become available.
Anyone wanting to find out about how to best manage or prevent diabetes can talk to their GP to arrange a referral.
A dietitian is also available by referral once per month at the hospital.
There is no charge for an appointment.
