Demons too strong for CH

Cricket. Latrobe Demons outplayed the Circular Head Cowbiz Colts winning by 25 runs  in the Cricket North West U/17s competition on Sunday.

Missed chances proved costly for the Colts as the Demons reached 7/205.

Lochie Hunt 2/21 was the Colts’ best bowler followed by Ben Spinks 2/23, but the 10 dropped catches and three missed stumpings proved to be very costly. The Demons’ Thomas Donald (67) batted for all but one over and along with Jacob Webb (59) put together a 124-run, fifth wicket partnership.

CH Colts got off to a good start in their chase as Lewis Nicholls (41) and Sam Lewis (22) put on 62 runs in the first 10 overs. Both wickets fell in quick succession followed by Nibbs for no score.

At 3/67, CH had to rebuild and looked to be doing this but once again lost two quick wickets to be 5/93 after 24 overs. Connor Smith (31) had some luck early but started to play some nice shots. Isaac Perry’s wicket fell for 15 but to the team’s credit, CH kept up the run rate.

Logan Smith (8) and Shaun Blake (12) both fell at the wrong time and CH were all out for 180.

CH Cowbiz Colts will next play a T20 game against Latrobe Demons on Sunday December 20 at Latrobe
